I was in the balcony, when suddenly, a baby monkey jumped onto the side wall. I ran inside and closed the balcony door. He jumped down on the other side. So, I ran towards the room’s door and peeped through the keyhole.
Every summer holiday, I travel to a new place with Mummy and Papa. This year, we went to Kerala. I saw tea estates, spice gardens, backwaters, beautiful temples, and so many animals and birds. But, let me tell you about the favourite part of my vacation.
We stayed at Athirapally, right in front of the biggest waterfall in Asia! I was in the balcony, when suddenly, a baby monkey jumped onto the side wall. I ran inside and closed the balcony door. He jumped down on the other side. So, I ran towards the room’s door and peeped through the keyhole. The monkey entered the common TV room, stole a jar of tea bags and jumped back on the tree. Such a thief! He started tearing those bags and eating tea. Yuck! So stupid! But, you know what? He was, actually, tasting each bag to check for sugar. That’s smart! Just then, a few more monkeys surrounded him. They started fighting, the jar fell down and all the tea bags flew all around. Hahaha, monkeys are stupid!
We had to go for the forest walk, so, we quickly got ready and left. There were so many different kind of birds and deer. Suddenly, our guide said, “Shhhh”. He pointed towards a big branch of a tree that was torn down, and there was elephant poop, which means, the elephant was somewhere around. We slowly walked around looking for them, and spotted a mummy and a baby elephant. We stopped at a safe distance so that we don’t disturb them.
I love watching birds and animals, but only, in the forest. Because, my teachers say animals should never be caged.
We believe in creating spaces that pull people out of their daily routine and give them an experience which they can never have in cities.
